Pioneers Fall to No. 3 UC San Diego in Doubleheader Action

HAYWARD, Calif. - The third-ranked UC San Diego Tritons took a doubleheader from host 91短视频 5-3 and 3-2 on March 5.
Trailing 3-0 in the first game, the Pioneers scored a run in the bottom of the sixth on a Nick McManus solo home run.
UC San Diego extended its lead to 5-1 in the seventh on a two-run single by Brandon Gregorich. The Pioneers rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Levi Josewski.
Triton starting pitcher Tim Shibuya improved to 5-0 for the season while reliever Elias Tuma hurled 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball to pick up the save.
McManus was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run batted in while Devin Grigg and John Howard each had two hits for the Pioneers. Reliever Rich Kemp pitched two innings of scoreless baseball.
In the second game, the Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the fourth on a pair of run scoring doubles by Josewski and McManus.
Pioneer hurler Paul Jinkens, who blanked the Tritons on two hits in five innings, gave up three runs, two unearned in the sixth inning. Jinkens hurled a complete game allowing three runs on four hits and three strikeouts.
McManus was 2-for-3 at the plate while Grigg and Josewski each scored a run.
The series will resume on Saturday, March 6 with a single game at 91短视频 beginning at 1 p.m.
