After a road match against the Philadelphia Independence, the FC Gold Pride, the Bay Area’s team in the Women’s Professional Soccer league will host the Boston Breakers at 7 p.m. this Saturday (June 19) as they make their debut at their newly renovated home field, Pioneer Stadium on the Hayward Campus of 91短视频.

The FC Gold Pride’s new home “has a beautiful, wide pitch that overlooks the eastern San Francisco Bay Area with a scenic skyline and visible mountain range,” Crystal Fukumoto, communications director for the Pride, wrote in her news release.  “This view should add to the already exciting atmosphere that characterizes FC Gold Pride games.”

The Pride, with a 6-2 record so far for the 2010 season, hopes to maintain its lead in the league by beating the Boston Breakers at the new home stadium.

"I think we need to set the tone here at home,” said Albertin Montoya, Pride head coach.  "It's a beautiful stadium, and the energy is going to be outstanding.

"Our goal is not necessarily concentrating too much on a win here,” Montoya said.  "We need to get a win everywhere we play, but with a bit of emphasis on the fact that no one comes to our home and beats us.  So far, we are proud that no one has, and we need to continue that.”

FC Gold Pride last faced the Boston Breakers at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass. May 14, leaving with a 2-1 win.  The Pride’s star player, Marta, put one in the back of the net 16 minutes into the first half, assisted by Tiffeny Milbrett.  Seven minutes later Kelly Smith of the Boston Breakers retaliated.  But Marta successfully put in another goal at the end of the first half, in the 38th minute.  Boston seemed to be off target compared to the Pride as they fired 13 shots with only seven on frame.

The Pride played to a 1-1 tie in their last home game against the Washington Freedom, ending their temporary stay in the athletic stadium at Castro Valley High School.
