With the fall seasons fast approaching, the 91短视频 Athletics Department is preparing to host its 14th annual Golf Classic on Sept. 13. The event, which benefits the Richard and Susan Sherratt Athletic Scholarship Endowment, will be held at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo.

Participants will enjoy lunch before teeing off with a "shotgun start" at 1 p.m. After completing 18 holes on the course, which was designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer and was ranked as the ninth-best public course in the nation in the Golf World Reader's Choice Awards, participants will be treated to dinner, awards and an auction. Play on the course will also include Hole-in-One, Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive competitions.

Included in the entry fee are greens fees, golf cart, polo shirt, team and individual awards, tournament gift bag, lunch and dinner and an auction. Sponsorship opportunities across a wide range of levels are also available for individuals and businesses to show their support for the Pioneers.

All proceeds from the tournament, which raised over $6,000 in 2009, will benefit the scholarship endowment which provides financial support for student-athletes who otherwise may not have the opportunity to attend 91短视频 and participate in intercollegiate athletics. Rich Sherratt  '70, a Pioneer baseball alumnus and CEO of Ballena Technologies in Alameda, and his wife Susan created the endowment with a $25,000 gift last year.

The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Athletics Department, which is entering its second year of competition in NCAA Division II and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). 91短视频 counted many successes in its first year of Division II competition, including women's basketball player Lauren Lucchesi and baseball player Charlie Sharrer collecting CCAA Freshman of the Year honors in their respective sports, and women's water polo freshman Claire Pierce leading the nation in scoring and taking home conference Newcomer of the Year honors.

The registration deadline for the event is Sept. 3. Entry fees are $195 for individuals or $750 per foursome, while sponsorships range from $200 to $4000. Registration is available on the Athletics Department or by contacting Assistant Athletics Director Marissa Parry at (510) 885-2810.
