91短视频 plays to 1-1 draw with Hilo

WAIPAHU,Hawai'i – The 91短视频 and Hawai'i Hilo women's soccer teams battled for 110 minutes before ending in a 1-1 draw at Waipio Soccer Complex on Saturday. The Pioneers (1-0-1) played their second straight overtime game, coming from behind to tie the game in the second half and out-shooting the Vulcans, 15-8.

Hilo struck early, scoring its only goal of the game just 12 minutes into the match. Emily Lambert played a ball to the top of the box for Analysa Rodriguez, whose shot from 25 yards beat Pioneer freshman keeper Donna Williams to put UHH up 1-0.

Though East Bay out-shot Hilo, 7-5, in the first half, the Pioneers could not find a way through the Vulcan defense and headed to the half trailing 1-0. Williams posted two saves in the opening frame, while Hilo keeper Alysia Ann Barone needed just one save to keep the Pioneers scoreless before the half.

The second half saw East Bay even the score 12 minutes after the break, getting a goal from junior defender Breanna Baker. Sophomore Zuly Diaz played a corner kick into the box, where Baker connected on a header to beat Barone and tie the game.

Tied at one goal apiece, neither team managed to break through over the final 33 minutes. Both teams posted three shots in the second half, with Williams making two more saves to hold the Vulcans scoreless and send the game into overtime.

Though Cal State East Bay out-shot Hilo, 5-0, in the two overtime periods, it could not break through for the game-winning goal. Diaz and Jasmine Stephens paced the Pioneers with three shots apiece, while Williams made four saves in the draw.

CSUEB will put its undefeated record on the line on Monday, taking on Chaminade in Honolulu to close out its Hawaiian trip. The Pioneers and Silver Swords will meet at 3:30 PT at St. Louis Field.
