Pioneers take fifth at St. Martin's Invitational

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Pioneer women's golf team finished fifth out of seven teams competing at the St. Martin's Invitational on Oct. 4-5.  East Bay finished with a two-round score of 681, 62 strokes behind tournament winner Western Washington. The Pioneers were 30 strokes better than sixth place Simon Fraser.

For the third time this season, the Pioneers were led by freshman Deanna Tyndall, who was 19-over with a two-round score of 163. Tyndall tied with three other golfers for 13th place, while carding a team single-round low of 79 on the first day of action.

Sophomore Andrea Castellanos shot a 22-over-par 166 to tie with two other golfers in 18th, while Christina Walker finished 28th overall with a two-round score of 175.

Katie Devine and Alicia Haness rounded out the Pioneer contingent, finishing 31st and 32nd, respectively.
