HAYWARD, Calif. – On the strength of two goals from sophomore forward Shianna Falk, including the overtime game winner, the 91短视频 women's soccer team posted a 3-2 victory over Cal State Stanislaus on Friday at Pioneer Stadium. The Pioneers (6-6-2, 4-6-1 CCAA) came from behind twice to hand the North Division-leading Warriors their third loss of the season.
Falk ended the match and gave the Pioneers the victory in the 95th minute with an impressive goal to beat Stanislaus keeper Millie Brown. Falk did all the work on her second goal of the day, bringing the ball into the box and beating two defenders before placing her shot into the upper right corner of the goal.
Cal State Stanislaus got the scoring started in the 10th minute, as leading scorer Karenee Demery notched her 13th goal of the season. After Marissa Dunaway brought the ball up, she switched it to Briana McClain on the right side, where she played a centering pass into the box for Demery who beat East Bay keeper Nina Cefalo to give the Warriors a 1-0lead.
Despite trailing early, the Pioneers rebounded from the goal to put the pressure on the Warrior defense. East Bayresponded with six of the last eight shots of the first half following the goal, forcing Brown to make two saves. The Pioneers got their best chances of the half on a pair of corner kicks from Shianna Falk, who found Michelle Garcia at the near post, where she nearly stuck it in twice.
The Pioneers finished the first half with a seven to four shot advantage, with both keepers making a pair of saves in the opening 45 minutes.
After knocking on the door in the first frame, the Pioneers evened the score in the 55th minute, as Michelle Quintero won the ball in the Warriors' end before lobbing a shot over Brown and into the back of the net. The goal was Quintero's second of the season and brought East Bay even at one goal apiece.
Less than eight minutes later, Cal State Stanislaus answered with a goal of their own to retake the lead. Demery proved why she is the CCAA scoring leader, notching her second goals of the game and 14th score of the season after breaking through the defense and going one-on-one with Cefalo before beating her to her right to give the Warriors a 2-1 advantage.
The Pioneers were undiscouraged, though, as Falk notched her first goal of the game just six minutes after Stanislaus regained the lead. After winning a free kick about 30 yards out from goal in the Warriors' end, freshman defender Gail Bassett stepped up to the ball and played it into the box.
