Pioneers take sixth in fall finale

WAIKALOA, Hawai'i - The Pioneer men's golf team concluded the fall season with a sixth-place tie at the Dennis Rose Invitational on Nov. 1-2. The tournament, held at the Waikaloa King Course in Waikaloa, Hawai'i, consisted of a field of 12 NCAA Division II institutions.
91短视频 and Valdosta State finished in a sixth-place tie with a three-round score of 34-over-par 898. Cal State Monterey Bay won the invitational with a four-over-par 868.
Jeff Cornez led the Pioneers and tied with three other golfers in 14th place. Cornez fired a four-over 220, including a team-low, three-under 69 in the second round.
A.J. Warren finished in 25th and five strokes off Cornez' pace with a nine-over 225. Nick Allen and Scott Gregory shot 14-over for the tournament to tie with two other golfers in 36th.
Andres Quintero finished 16 over and tied with one other golfer in 40th place, but improved his first-round score by eight strokes, carding a two-over 74 in the second round.
The Pioneers will open the spring slate on Feb. 27, when they travel to Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino for the Cal State San Bernardino Invitational.
