Though the Pioneer basketball season was put to bed last weekend, there's still time for everyone in the 91短视频 community to enjoy some exciting basketball action this weekend as Pioneer Gym plays host to the 2011 CCAA Basketball Championships. Both the men's and women's CCAA Basketball Tournament semifinals and finals will be held here on campus this Friday and Saturday.

The CCAA Championships will feature the top teams in the conference on both the men's and women's sides, competing for the 2011 CCAA Tournament title and the right to represent the conference in the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament. The weekend will include four semifinal games on Friday and two finals on Saturday, as well as a free youth clinic.

Friday's schedule begins with the men's semifinals at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by the women's semifinals at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, the Pioneers will host a clinic for local youth teams at 1 p.m. before the men's championship is decided at 5 p.m., followed by the women's title game at 7:30 p.m. More information on the tournament, tickets, youth clinic and opportunities for youth teams to scrimmage at halftime and meet the players are available at or by calling (510) 885-2542.

Although they aren't eligible for the CCAA Tournament until next year, the Pioneer basketball teams made the most of the last few weeks of the season. Both teams kicked off the last week of the home season with wins over Chico State on Feb. 10, while the women posted their first two-win week of the year. Freshman guard Sarah Finlay collected CCAA Player of the Week honors after leading the team to back-to-back victories.

Once the excitement of the CCAA Tournament is over, we'll get a chance to focus on the spring sports as they get into the heart of their seasons. Next weekend, Pioneer baseball, softball and water polo will all be in action at home. Catch a glimpse of the softball team as they take on Humboldt State in a pair of doubleheaders on Mar. 11 and 12, the baseball team when it hosts Cal State San Bernardino for four games Mar. 11-13 and water polo as it welcomes both Cal State Monterey Bay and Fresno Pacific on Mar. 12.

Lastly, we had one of our most successful and exciting Homecoming celebrations in recent memory last month all thanks to the support of the great campus community. Whether it was at the East Bay Idol Competition, the Pioneer Pride Fashion Show, the Pre-Game Tailgate, the basketball, baseball, water polo or softball games, or the Homecoming Parade, The Red and Black Attack went off without a hitch because of the participation of all the campus departments and organizations, as well as our fans. Our events wouldn't be the same without your amazing support.

See you at the CCAA Tournament, at the field and by the pool!

Go Pioneers!
