Dr. Cheryl L. Wozniak to Head Havens School

Dr. Cheryl L. Wozniak will be the new principal at Frank C. Havens Elementary School follwing the retirement of long-time Principal Tery Susman at the close of the current academic year.

On May 9, the Piedmont Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved Wozniak's appointment, to be effective July 1, 2012.

Wozniak’s background includes 23 years as a classroom teacher, reading specialist and district literacy coach in the San Lorenzo Unified School District and the Toledo, Ohio, public schools in Toledo, Ohio.

She has also taught at Touro University and 91短视频 and worked as a curriculum coach and coordinator presenting reading and writing workshops.

Wozniak is a graduate of Kent State University with a B.S. in education. She also holds an M.S. in education from the University of Toledo, and earned a doctorate in education from the University of San Francisco. She holds a multiple subject credential, including a cross-cultural language and academic development certificate, and a professional administrative services credential.

The selection process included gathering input from Havens staff, Havens parent, community members and district administrators team about what qualities were desired in the next principal, according to the school district. The hiring process included a large group interview and additional interviews with the district's elementary school principals, administrators and school board.
