CSUEB fall arts programs kick off with Theatre and Dance celebration, performances

91短视频's fall 2012 arts events and programs will open in mid-October with a week-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the university's Department of Theatre and Dance, the Annual Faculty and Staff Exhibition in the University Art Gallery, and a wind symphony performance.

The theatre and dance celebration from Oct. 15-20 will include free programs and events, culminating in a benefit show and auction, and celebration of the 40-year tenure of Thomas Hird, professor and department chair. Details are .

The University Art Gallery exhibition will open with a reception from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 23 in the gallery, located on the first floor of the Arts and Education Building. The exhibition may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, and from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursdays. It will be closed Nov. 12 for the observance of Veteran’s Day, and Nov. 22 and 23 for Thanksgiving. Admission is free. Additional information is available at:

A Wind Symphony will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in the University Theatre. Admission is free to those with a CSUEB ID, and $5- $7 for all others. 

A Faculty Recital is set for noon Nov. 1 in the Music Building, room 1055. Admission is free.

The Theatre and Dance will present “The Good Person of Setzuan,” by Tony Kushner, Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m., and Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. in the University Theatre. Tickets are $5 to 15.

A "Men’s Chorus Festival Concert" is set for 2:30 p.m. Nov. 2 in the University Theatre. Admission is free.

The Chamber Winds Ensemble will perform at noon Nov. 8 in Music Building 1055. Admission is free.

The Jazz Improv Ensembles will perform at noon Nov. 15 and Nov. 20 in Music Building 1039. Admission is free.

A "Composer in Residence Recital" is set for noon Nov. 27 in Music Building 1055. Admission is free.

The Wind Symphony will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27 in the University Theatre. Admission is free to those with a CSUEB ID, and $5 to $7 for others.

A String Ensemble performance is set for noon Nov. 29 in Music Building 1055. Admission is free.

The Jazz Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 in the University Theatre. Admission is free to those with a CSUEB ID, and $5 to $7 for others.  

A Vocal Repertory Ensemble Recital is set for noon Dec. 6 in Music Building 1055. Admission is free.

A Percussion Ensemble will be presented at 4 p.m. Dec. 7 in Music Building 1039. Admission is free.

“Ice,” a dance extravaganza, will be presented at 8 p.m. Dec. 7, and at 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 8, in the Dance Studio, located in the Physical Education Building, room 140. Admission is $5. 

The Winter Gala, featuring the East Bay Singers, Jazz Singers and Singing Society, with the Eden Choir and Hillsdale High School Chamber Singers, will be presented at 4 and 7 p.m. Dec. 8, at the Eden United Church of Christ, 21455 Birch Street, Hayward.
