Commencement Parking & Transportation
Our office will be closed for Commencement preparations & ceremonies: Thursday, May 9th - Sunday, May 12th. We will reopen on Monday, May 13th.
Where can Students & Employees park on Thursday & Friday?
If you work or have finals please be aware some parking lots are closed or are reserved for Commencement ceremonies Thursday, May 9th, Friday, May 10th, Saturday, May 11th & Sunday, May 12th.
On Thursday there is a 5:00pm ceremony, guests will begin arriving an hour or more before. Please see this link for Friday, Saturday & Sunday Ceremony times.
AVAILABLE: (BLUE) If you need to be parked on campus for finals or work, park in these lots:
East Side: Lot D, E, F or far side of G.
West Side: A, B, C, C1 or West Loop Road (curb parking)
CLOSED (RED): Parking Lots/areas that are closed: J, N, P and East Loop Road - curb parking
RESERVED (YELLOW) : Parking lots that are reserved for Commencement parking only: K (ADA), L (Security/Event Staff/VIP), G & H (Grads/Guests/Event Staff)
Commencement Parking Permits - General Info
The commencement ceremonies require a special commencement parking permit to park on campus. Each commencement ceremony will have their own unique special commencement parking permit that will only be valid on its designated date. Graduates can obtain parking permits beginning at GradFest. After GradFest, parking permits will be available directly from the Parking & Alternative Transportation Services Department located in the Student and Faculty Support Building, SF-140 from March 25, 2024 to May 3, 2024.
Vehicles with a DMV-issued Disabled Persons Parking Placard or license plate must also have a special commencement parking permit to park on campus.
Each graduate will receive up to three (3) parking permits.
The special commencement parking permits are not replaceable if lost or stolen.
Last Day to pick up Permits is Friday, May 3rd. NO EXCEPTIONS
Note: Graduates and guests should anticipate traffic delays, especially on Mission Boulevard. Please allow extra time for travel. All graduates and guests will need this special parking permit to park on campus during commencement. Normal parking permits will not work. Carpooling is strongly suggested.

Pick Up and Mail Options for Permits
Pick up at GradFest (March 12 and March 19 - 21)
Parking Permits for Commencement ceremonies will be available beginning at GradFest, March 12th at Concord Center and March 19-21 at Hayward Campus.
Pick up in Office (March 25 - May 3)
The Parking & Transportation Services Department is located in the Student & Faculty Support building, SF 140 (by parking lot H.) Our door is in the big gray column outside the building, 1st floor street level. Click here for MAP. Click here for OFFICE LOCATION image.
- Permits will be available at our office during business hours Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, starting March 25, 2024 to May 3, 2024 only.
- To pick up your permit you will need to bring your Photo ID. Graduates who have filed for Fall 2023, Spring 2024, or Summer 2024 graduation are eligible to receive Parking Permits for commencement.
- Limit of 3 permits per Grad.
- (If you would like someone else to pick up the permits on your behalf, please email us at parking@csueastbay.edu with your full name, Net ID and the full name of the approved person in advance.)
This option is no longer available as of May 3rd.
Mail to Off campus/Online Students (March 25 - April 26)
For students who live out of the area or cannot come to our office during business hours, you can request the parking permits to be mailed to your home starting Monday, March 25th as long as you have applied for graduation. Use this make sure you use your campus email to access this form.
This option is no longer available as of April 27th.
- If you cannot pick up in person you can send someone on your behalf, see above.

- Mailed permits can take up to 7 - 10 business days to arrive via USPS.
- Permits are not replaceable if lost in the mail.
- Please note we stopped mailing permits on April 26, 2024.
Shuttle & Uber/Lyft Options
If you were unable to pick up parking permits, please use either Uber/Lyft Drop off or our free Campus Shuttles running to/from Downtown Hayward BART.
Uber/Lyft
Drop off/Pick up spaces will be located in Parking Lot H close to the venue.
Shuttles
Park at the downtown City Hall parking garage for free and walk over to Hayward BART. Shuttles run every 30-40 minutes. Shuttles can get full, so plan on getting to the stop 30-40 minutes earlier in case there is a line or you need to wait for another shuttle. BART Schedule.
- Shuttles will run from 6:30am - 11:30pm on Thursday, May 9th & Friday, May 10th
- Shuttles will run from 7:30am - 8:30pm on Saturday, May 11th
- Shuttles will run from 7:30am - 4:30pm on Sunday, May 12th

Harder Road Closed (uphill) Friday, May 10th - Sunday, May 12th
Harder Road will be closed at Bryn Mawr Ave Eastbound direction only (uphill) on Friday, May 10th - Sunday, May 12th.
- Westview Way and above Residents will be able to exit via Harder Road but cannot enter via Harder Road.
- All Westview Way and above Residents please use Central Blvd as an entrance
Housing Move-Out
HOUSING MOVE OUT - TRAFFIC FLOW & PARKING
Beginning Friday, May 3, 2024, the only entrance into Pioneer Heights will be the street right before the Dining Commons (Pioneer Kitchen). Other street traffic will be one-way out of Pioneer Heights to allow for unloading zones.
Please review the map to review areas of designated 20-minute loading zones or no parking zones. Please follow the signage. Refer to this map for parking/traffic details.
NOTE - University Commencement will take place from May 10 through May 12. We urge that you review the commencement ceremony times to plan around high traffic hours. During these three days, CSUEB traffic pattern will be adjusted to have a one-way campus entrance only at Carlos Bee Blvd. Entrance to Housing will need to follow Commencement traffic, and U-Turn at the intersection of West Loop Road and Harder Road to access Pioneer Heights Housing. If you need to move-out during the main commencement traffic, please let the UPD Officer know at the West Loop Road/Harder Rd intersection that you will need to make the U-Turn to access Housing.
