GRADUATE EVENTS
The Office of Graduate Studies coordinates several graduate events for prospective and current students.

DUAL OR SECOND MASTER’S DEGREE
Pursue two master’s degrees simultaneously (Dual Degree)
If a student wishes to pursue two master’s degrees at the same time, they should apply to their primary degree via and submit a completed "" form to the Office of Graduate Admissions to apply for the second degree.Note: The second-degree objective may be requested any time before the student graduates under their first-degree objective. Please note that acceptance to the second degree program is not guaranteed. The decision will be made based on the major program's admission requirements.
After acceptance to the second-degree program, the student must:
- Fulfill all prerequisites and requirements for the second degree;
- Complete at least 70% of the units required for the second degree (21 units for a 30-unit program) in residence after admission to the second-degree program. Up to 30% of units from the first degree (9 units for a 30-unit program) may be applied to the second degree, if accepted by the second-degree program.
- Earn all units for the second master’s degree within the five calendar years immediately preceding the receipt of the degree. Note: If the second degree is in the same field as the first degree (e.g., business administration), the second degree must be in a different concentration and all units in the degree must be from different courses.
Earn a second master´s degree
Admission Requirements:If you already have a master´s degree and want to pursue a second one you must meet the following criteria:
- Apply and gain admission to the department of the second master´s degree program;
- Fulfill all prerequisites and requirements for the second degree;
- Complete at least 70% of the units required for the second degree (21 units for a 30-unit program) in residence after admission to the second-degree program. Up to 30% of units from the first degree (9 units for a 30-unit program) may be applied to the second degree, if accepted by the second-degree program.
- Earn all units for the second master’s degree within the five calendar years immediately preceding the receipt of the degree.

CHANGE OF GRADUATE OBJECTIVE

Cal State East Bay offers numerous forms of financial support for current graduate students. The Office of Graduate Studies coordinates many programs, which provide Graduate Opportunities and Financial Resources in support of your graduate education.MASTER’S THESIS OR CAPSTONE PROJECT
The Office of Graduate Studies facilitates format review for University Theses and archival in the University Library for University or Departmental Theses or Capstone Projects. Please see our Master's Thesis or Capstone Project page for more information.
GRADUATE STUDY COMPLETION
If you have completed all the units required for your master's degree, but are still working on your thesis, project, or studying for a comprehensive exam, you can have continued access to university facilities by registering for XXXX 890 , through the Department of Continuing Education.This is a 1-unit course with a fee of $134. Registering for XXXX 890 will provide you with a valid Student ID card, the ability to check books out of the library, remote access to computerized databases in the library, use of computer labs on campus, the ability to continue to work on projects in science labs, eligibility to purchase a parking permit, and access to other benefits enjoyed by regularly registered students.
Enrollment in XXXX 890 also qualifies as enrollment for students who are serving as a teaching associate. (Students should register for the course within their major prefix; e.g., graduate chemistry majors should register for CHEM 890.
Note: XXXX 890 cannot be used to satisfy any unit or course requirements for your degree. Students will need to obtain a signature from their major department.
GRADUATE REINSTATEMENT
Graduate students seeking reinstatement must:
- Address a letter to their Graduate Coordinator or Major Department Chair, stating the reasons why their G.P.A. fell below a 3.00 and/or why they were removed from their graduate program for any non-grade-related issue. The letter should also indicate how they will improve their grades and/or address other program-related performance issues and remain in good standing if reinstated.
- Meet with the Graduate Coordinator or Major Department Chair to discuss the issues presented in their letter.
The Graduate Coordinator or Major Department Chair:
- If the Graduate Coordinator supports reinstatement, he/she completes and signs the Petition for Graduate Reinstatement after meeting with the graduate student.
- Sends the completed Petition for Graduate Reinstatement form, along with the student's letter, to the Director of Graduate Studies.
