Food on the shelves

HOPE’s food pantry is open to CSUEB students. The university works with Alameda County Food Bank and also accepts donations.

The pantry is stocked with staples such as peanut butter, soup, rice, beans, pasta, oatmeal and cereal. It also has fresh vegetables and fruit, meat, and healthy snacks.

The pantry at both locations will be closed in observance of the following University holidays/campus closures:

  • Labor Day - September 9, 2023
  • Veteran's Day - November 10, 2023
  • Fall recess - November 23-24, 2023

Eligibility

  • Must be already enrolled in Fall courses 
  • Currently experiencing hunger/food insecurity
  • Must bring your student ID & reusable bag(s) every time you visit the pantry

How Pioneer for H.O.P.E. Food Pantry Works

 Step 1: Make an appointment through Bay Advisor

 

Step 2: Check-in

Check in at Student Health Center Lobby

Complete the Food Pantry Sign-in Form

Check-in (show your student ID to the staff)

  

Step 3: Shop

Grab a shopping cart and shop for items. All items are based on availability. We'll let you know if there are any limits. Always ask if you need more of any item, remembering you can return each calendar week.

CSUEB students are welcome to volunteer. Volunteer positions help keep our pantry running by assisting with tasks such as stocking/inventory management and cleaning

Eligible CSUEB students are permitted to come to the pantry once every 14 days
  • Sell-by date: tells the store how long to display the product for sale.
  • Used-by/Expiration date: the last date recommended for the product while at peak quality.
  • Best-by date: tells customers the date by which the product should be eaten for best flavor or quality.

Yes. Students without a student ID might not be able to be served. If you are a currently enrolled student who has permanently misplaced your ID card, get more info on the Bay Card page.
