Destroyed Slope
1981 salvage excavation of Yema-po after its destruction.
Aproximately 95% of the site was destroyed between the 1980 field season and the 1981 season. The vandals were probably in search of whole glass bottles and were equipped with a backhoe (tooth scars evident on the side wall near the arrow head above). Unfortunately, in the quest for intact Euro-American collectibles a great many fragmentary clues concerning the overseas Chinese at Yema-po were lost.
