A Chinese Cure for Rheumatism
Druggist Reid's rattlesnake is now pickled in whiskey, and will be used as a sure cure for rheumatism. Win Lee who conducts the Chinese wash house in the corner of B and Watkins Streets, purchased the snake from the druggist Thursday for one dollar. He brought along a pair of tongs, and seizing the snake with the tongs placed him a fruit jar and packed him off to the wash house.
When asked how he proposed to make medicine with a rattlesnake, Win Lee said that whiskey was poured into the bottle while the snake was still alive. The bottle was then set away in a dark corner for several weeks. At the end of this time the medicine was good and a sure cure for rheumatism.
